Living in a cemetery might sound a little creepy, but when you stand in the living room of Number 85, Swain’s Lane looking over Highgate Cemetery it’s quite magical.
Half way up the steeply sloping Swain’s Lane, N6, are exteriors of three homes, set into the high walls bounding Highgate Cemetery.
The land was sold in 1975 by the United Cemetery Company, who then owned the 37 acre site. The company was running out of funds and hoped that it could raise enough money to stave off bankruptcy, but it was not enough.
